Privacy Policy

CapGen is an AI caption studio operated by Aculix Technologies LLP (“Aculix”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use capgen.ai, how we use it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at support@capgen.ai and a human will answer.

What we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a password, or your name, email, and profile picture if you sign in with Google or Apple. Authentication is handled by our infrastructure provider, Supabase; we never see or store your password in plain text.

Photos and generations. When you upload a photo to generate captions, we store the photo and the resulting generation (captions, title, tags, and the settings you chose) in your account so your work appears in your collections and can be copied or regenerated later.

Usage and billing information. We keep your credit balance, generation counts, and plan details so the product works and your usage stats are accurate. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments; we receive your subscription status and receipts, never your full card number.

Technical data. Standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps) that help us keep the service secure and debug problems.

How your photos are processed

Generating captions is the whole point of CapGen, so here is exactly what happens to a photo you upload. The image is stored with our storage provider (Cloudflare R2) and a processing request is sent through OpenRouter, an AI routing service, which fulfills the request using third-party AI models. The model reads your image once, returns the captions, and the response comes back to your account.

We do not use your images to train AI models. Your photos and generated captions are processed only to fulfill your request. They are not used by us to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model, and we do not sell them or share them with anyone beyond the service providers listed below, who process them solely on our instructions.

Retention and deletion

Your photos and generations stay in your account so your collections keep working. You are in control of both:

• Deleting a generation removes its image from storage. We keep an archived record of the generation (without the image being available to anyone) so your usage statistics stay accurate.
• Deleting your account from Settings wipes your collections, history, and unused credits. This cannot be undone.
• If a generation fails, the uploaded image is deleted immediately.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run CapGen. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job:

• Supabase (authentication and database)
• Cloudflare R2 (image storage)
• OpenRouter (AI request routing to third-party models that generate your captions)
• Dodo Payments (billing, checkout, and receipts)

Cookies

CapGen uses essential cookies only: the session cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not run third-party advertising networks or tracking cookies on capgen.ai.

Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data as if it were our own.

Children's privacy

CapGen is not directed at anyone under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date above. Meaningful changes to how we handle your photos will be called out clearly.
